Resource Blog #5
This
is a neat website. It allows you to choose certain grades rather than
age groups and allows you to choose between Civics and Government,
Economics, Geography, Social Studies, History, and World History. After
choosing one of these options, you’re able to choose a subgroup and the
site provides roughly 10-30 videos and audio links.
Support
materials are offered once the video ends which consist of teaching
tips and even lesson plans for some topics. Standards are also presented
in which the student or teach can insert their state.
PBS
Media is good for students who want to get away from reading on certain
subjects. The videos are long, detailed, and easily understandable.
Teachers shouldn’t lean on this resource too heavily, though. The
lessons and tips for teachers are good but not very detail oriented,
with more of a steering direction rather than hands-on lessons.
The
plethora of videos are terrific, and the topics are dynamic- a good way
for students to watch or listen to content-related information outside
of the curriculum. One last neat aspect: The amount of videos are something to observe. Once choosing a specific video, related videos pop up in the sidebar. (201 words)
